The person that take this position is called a supply analyst, a supply chain analyst, a stock control planner, a procurement planner, procurement agent, raw material controller…and more different nominations that cover the same position.  For this articles we will call it a supply analyst.

  • He is in charge to analyses and take the necessary action regarding the inventory level related to the parts he in charge
  • He in charge to build up and manage different scenarios to prevent any potential further shortage
  • He in charge to take the lead in case of quality issue to push supplier to send replacement to the rejected goods
  • He has to take into consideration the different agreement between the company and her collaborator (supplier, forwarders.)

Results expected from a supply chain analyst:
  • Ensure availability of raw material without shortages for all the suppliers under his panel.
  • Ensure good follow up of E&O and put it place actions needed to sell it.
  • Ensure good tracking and follow up of over shipments and backlogs.
  • Ensure good tracking and follow up of critical parts.
  • Ensure good tracking and follow up for suppliers with the lowest OTD result.
  • MRP control based on specific and common parts to reliable MRP proposal and escalates to planning team if there is any MPS integration error.

Most actions taken by a supply chain analyst:
  • Ensure daily follow up of the critical parts.
  • Avoid stoppage and premium freight.
  • Escalate any issue to avoid production or consumption stoppage lines.
  • Give more attention to the costly parts.
  • Develop new tools to ensure best inventory level's control.
  • Meet the inventory target fixed by senior management.
  • Avoid the excess and obsolete for run in and run out phases.
  • Highlight the suppliers that impact our stock level by over shipments to central purchasing.
  • Close follow up to backlog and over shipment.
  • Inventory value tracking on weekly basis.
  • Develop  new  tools to  meet  and  improve  results.

How succeeded supply analyst are dealing with daily matters:
  • Good analyze of the shortage or coverage report.
  • Anticipate the critical parts with suppliers and escalate on time using the standard process.
  • Classify different items based ABC classification and fix the list of the excess and obsolete.
  • Good analyze of the MRP calculation result and ordering proposal in order to avoid excess orders.
  • Reducing inventory level through sharing an d selling with other competitors.
  • Put in place weekly follow up of suppliers shipping over and highlight problems.
  • Put in place weekly analyze related to requirements variance.
  • Good follow up analysis to new parts, and   for running out as well.
